Preserving while growing.
Brookhill Village is more than a development. It is a story of resilience, community, preservation, and transformation spanning more than seventy years in the heart of Charlotte.
As Brookhill enters its next chapter, we honor the people, history, and culture that made this neighborhood what it is today.

The Beginning of Brookhill Village
Established in 1950 as a community for African American families in Charlotte. At a time when opportunities were limited by segregation, Brookhill became a place where families built community, established roots, and created opportunity for future generations.
A Community Through Change
As Charlotte expanded and South End evolved into an important economic corridor, Brookhill remained a stable and affordable neighborhood. Residents built families, businesses, churches, and traditions that helped shape the cultural fabric of the city — a testament to resilience.
Facing Challenges and Advocacy
As development accelerated throughout South End, Brookhill faced mounting infrastructure pressure. Residents, advocates, and community leaders worked tirelessly to preserve the neighborhood's historical significance and protect the community for future generations.
A Turning Point
A comprehensive Community Asset and Needs Assessment underscored Brookhill's importance within Charlotte's development ecosystem. In March 2022, Griffin Brothers Companies assumed the ground lease with a vision to create a modern mixed-use community — preserving affordability, honoring history, and investing in the future.
Laying the Foundation
Public and private investments moved Brookhill's transformation forward. Funding was secured to preserve the community while creating a framework for revitalization. Partnerships with community organizations established a shared vision — keeping residents part of the neighborhood's next chapter.
Growth, Opportunity, and Community
Today, Brookhill enters an exciting new era — premium short-term rentals, a dedicated event venue, and an open park for gatherings of every kind, all woven into one connected neighborhood. Not simply redeveloped — reimagined as a place where Charlotte's history and future come together.
